About Me
Hi there!
I am a biologist fascinated by the shapes, colors, and functions of the organisms surrounding us. I am particularly interested in marine ecosystems and biodiversity and how they are influenced by human activities and climate change. I have studied many marine habitats, from Australian rocky shores to Caribbean sandy beaches to Brazilian mangroves and open ocean, and I have an enduring affinity for coastal ecosystems. |
My WorkI am an Assistant Professor at the University of the Virgin Islands (USA), where I teach courses related to Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources Management. I am also a member of the Editorial Board of the journal PeerJ, where I handle the review of submitted papers. Previously, I was a Lecturer of Benthic Ecology at the University of Vale do Itajaí (UNIVALI, Brazil) and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil), University of São Paulo (USP, Brazil), Institute of Marine Research Admiral Paulo Moreira (IEAPM, Brazilian Navy), and Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC, USA).
